The Western Dock project at Paradip Port is a state-of-the-art import-export terminal designed to transform cargo handling and logistics. Key features include:

  • Berthing Structure: 1,383 metres of berthing space.
  • Dredging: 17 million cubic metres of dredging for the channel and dock basin to accommodate fully loaded Cape-size vessels.
  • Rail Connectivity: 25 kilometre of railway track linking Paradip Port Station to the Western Dock.
  • Advanced Equipment: 5 ship unloaders, mobile harbor cranes, 6 stacker reclaimers, 4 rail-mounted gantry cranes for steel products, 2 wagon loaders, and 2 coal silos (each with 4,000-tonne capacity).
  • Mechanised Systems: A fully mechanised 14-kilometre conveyor system.
  • Infrastructure: Internal roads, storage yards for bulk and steel products, substations, workshops, and administrative offices.

With a planned terminal capacity of 25 million tonnes per annum, the project is expected to be completed within three years from the concession award. The Western Dock will reduce logistics costs for port users, enhance operational efficiency and safety, boost India’s global competitiveness, and generate significant employment opportunities.
